The real driver behind our businesses success is the team that we have working here at Brightsea. They’ve helped to build the company from the ground up and they’re true ambassadors, both for the company and the print industry as a whole. In our debut article, we’ll be chatting to Jessica Commins about her role here and to find out what makes them tick.

Let’s start with the basics, who are you and what do you do at Brightsea?

I’m Jessica Commins, Accounts Manager here at Brightsea.

Tell us about your role on a day-to-day basis, what sort of things do you deal with?

My work at Brightsea includes the day to day management of the Accounts department. Including invoicing; inputting purchase invoices on to Sage Line 50; refunds; receipting of monies and all customer/supplier queries. I am also a friendly receptionist who welcomes visitors by phone and in person and take card payments over the phone and in person. I oversee stock checking and ordering stationary. I even have knowledge of some health and safety aspects and have spent some time alongside the Managing Director ensuring the health and safety requirements of the company are met.

Despite many people now using digital publications instead of print, do you think that print still holds a place in today’s world?

Yes, people love to hold books and papers, I always feel there is nothing like turning pages and enjoying the interaction and feel.

As you know, Brightsea is all about continuous improvement and investing in our team and equipment, what’s been the biggest change you’ve seen since you’ve been here?

The massive printing press we’ve recently bought in is fantastic! The speed and quality of the print is phenomenal and fired us to the top of technology in Devon printing.

Why do you think people still keep coming back to print?

Print is real, it’s natural and you can feel it. You can pick it up and put it down as you want. The images capture moments and make you want to read it.

How do you like to spend you time when you’re not being a print guru?

Sleep and cuddle my dog.

The future is a scary and unknown place, what are you working towards at the moment?

Being as good as I can be at my job, saving towards my dream Jeep and a holiday to Thailand.
